Together We Encourage, Enable and Educate

We had a wonderful assembly in the Mercy today celebrating all of our wonderful talents. Our Roinn B East Waterford camogie winners were presented with their medals , by our very own All Star, Ms Falconer. The efforts of each and every panel member and background team were highly commended and many of our younger pupils were inspired to play the wonderful game.

In other sporting news our football team we praised highly for their efforts this month in their own competition. They played in the Willie Moran and Jack Kennedy tournament in Bohemians FC. While they didn’t take the victory this time they put in a galant effort and made us  very proud.

Beth Ryan from Ms Murray’s 6th class also got a big shout out and massive round of applause at our May assembly, for her participation in the Primary games. Beth proudly represented her school and club at half time of the Waterford v Cork senior hurling game last Sunday. A fantastic opportunity for her and one she won’t forget any day soon. Her peers, parents , teachers and coaches are very proud .

Back in the classroom, Ms Cummins and staff were so impressed by the academic efforts of some of our girls that she called them to the fore to share their work. Two of Mrs. Atkins 5th class pupils wrote amazing poetry based on the topic, “the desk!” Who thought this could be an entertaining object to write about however these girls showed us that a little creativity and imagination can make everything interesting.

In addition Miss Mannion’s girls did fabulous projects on fashion. They spoke about famous designers like Chanel, Dior and Louis Vuiton and shared fascinating facts about designers burning their products yearly to make sure they always had new products. I think we could all make better use of them than setting a fire. Well done girls !

Finally and very importantly, in true Mercy fashion we acknowledged our girls from each class who showed true kindness this month. It’s not always easy to be kind and these girls were rewarded for always sharing a smile or a kind word. Keep it up ladies.
