A warm welcome to our school website!
I hope it provides you with a glimpse of what our school offers to the girls whose families entrust them to our care. We cater for pupils from 3rd to 6th class, most of whom transfer from Holy Family JNS upon completion of Second Class. We are also very fortunate to be right next door to the Mercy Secondary School which means there is a seamless transition for the girls as they progress to second level education.
Our Lady of Mercy Senior National School is an all-girls Catholic school community which aims to welcome pupils from across the globe, all of whom bring with them an abundance of gifts and talents. We are a school proudly rooted in the Mercy tradition, founded by Catherine Mc Auley. This tradition is one of hospitality, kindness and outreach to those most in any kind of need.
Our dynamic and compassionate staff is dedicated to the care of each and every pupil and to ensuring that they are offered a curriculum that encompasses the best of learning outcomes in the areas of language, numeracy, science, P.E, religious education, the arts, history and geography.
Our motto is ‘Together we encourage, enable and educate’ and In partnership with parents, parish and wider community, we will strive to ensure the girls achieve their highest potential.

Well done to all our students who took part in Summer Stars with @waterfordlibraries during the Summer. The girls received their medals and certificates today. Keep up the reading ladies!
The girls in Mrs. Atkins after school Sewing Club have sewn their first cushion already. Well done girls and thank you to Mrs. Atkins for running it again.
We are back into our routine as September draws to a close. We had our first assembly in the Mercy Secondary Gym yesterday. Thank you to @mercywaterford for letting us use their wonderful gym while our building works are still going on.
We bid a fond farewell to our Home School Community Liaison teacher Mrs. Clancy who returns to the junior school. Thank you for all your hardwork and kindness over the last few years.
Many of our girls took part in the Danny Bowe memorial tournament over the weekend.
Well done to Kacey in 4th class who won trophies for dirtbike racing over the weekend.
Our new Student Council members have been elected and are looking forward to leading our school again this year.
Ms. O' Sullivan and Mr. Brennan came to say hello and tell the girls about the Mercy open night next week on Tues 6th October.
Abbie in 3rd class won player of the week in De la Salle camogie club. Well done to you!

Our 4th class winners in cross country from schools Athletics in the RSC. Thank you to Ms. Murray for preparing the girls.
Mrs. Kinsella's 4th Class had great fun with their engineering project. They designed a rain cover to keep a toy dry. They tested their rain covers by teacher spraying water on them to see if the toy remained dry. We are pleased to inform you this experiment had a 100% success rate 🙌🙌🙌 Lots of future engineers in 4th class!
As you all are aware, we opened our autism class last Septemebr 2025 and we are currently waiting for our new modular build to be installed at our school

Please take note of our big fundraiser. Tickets are selling fast and this event will sell out. There are wonderful prizes for those people who buy a ticket but cannot attend on the night. We were on WLR today with the committee discussing the upcoming event and details.
Tickets are also for sale through the school office.
