Our Lady of Mercy Senior National School
A warm welcome to our school website!
I hope it provides you with a glimpse of what our school offers to the girls whose families entrust them to our care. We cater for pupils from 3rd to 6th class, most of whom transfer from Holy Family JNS upon completion of Second Class. We are also very fortunate to be right next door to the Mercy Secondary School which means there is a seamless transition for the girls as they progress to second level education.
Our Lady of Mercy Senior National School is an all-girls Catholic school community which aims to welcome pupils from across the globe, all of whom bring with them an abundance of gifts and talents. We are a school proudly rooted in the Mercy tradition, founded by Catherine Mc Auley. This tradition is one of hospitality, kindness and outreach to those most in any kind of need.
Our dynamic and compassionate staff is dedicated to the care of each and every pupil and to ensuring that they are offered a curriculum that encompasses the best of learning outcomes in the areas of language, numeracy, science, P.E, religious education, the arts, history and geography.
Our motto is ‘Together we encourage, enable and educate’ and In partnership with parents, parish and wider community, we will strive to ensure the girls achieve their highest potential.

We celebrated our final assembly for the year today. We heard from a 5th class student who is on her way to Hollywood after starring as an extra in a film 🎥
Two girls from Mrs. Downey's 4th class talked about their sewing skills and the stitches they learned on hessian.
Some of our 6th class students from sewing club spoke about what Mrs. Atkins has taught them this year and showed us what they created in her class.
Two of our Irish dancers talked about the Feis they were in on Sunday and the medals they won.
Our kindness awards were given out for June and we bid farewell to our 6th class student who organised all the kindness awards this year and why it is important to celebrate this in our school. She did an amazing job this year and there is no doubt she will put her skills to good use in secondary school.
And finally we celebrated all the summer babies by singing Happy Birthday 🎂
5th Classes enjoyed a special pizza lunch today as a thank you for singing in the school choir all year and sharing their talents with everyone. Well done ladies and thank you to Mrs. O' Carroll and Ms. Mannion who teach them.
We ended a wonderful active/well-being week last week with an assembly led by our active/well-being committee. We celebrated winners from the our inspiring sports person and positive poster competition. Well done to Ms. Murray's & Ms. Burke's classes for winning prizes. We had a wonderful surprise with a beautiful traditional dance from one of our students and ended assembly with a whole school dance. Hey Macarena! 💃💃💃
Our girls had a great day at the wrap up for the Brighter Future Club for this year in the Tower Hotel. Well done on another successful year 👏
The Student Council had a great day out visiting the Ombudsman for children and learning all about their 42 rights and taking a tour around Christ Church Cathedral in Dublin where they saw the tomb of Strongbow, a mummified cat and rat and plenty of historical monuments. Thanks to Mrs Atkins for organising the trip and Ms. Murray for joining her.
Well done to the girls involved in sewing club which has finished up for the year. A big thank you to Mrs. Atkins for giving up her time after school to teach the girls how to make some fabulous pieces and learn some life skills.
